March 2015 Contemporary Art Month in San Antonio
yesmissolga does “Seven Minutes in Heaven” at the Fox Motel curated by Invisible Gallery.
Karma Sutra is an ongoing body of studio photography works intended for publication as a book. Each character is depicted in a storyboard of nine separate images. Under the viewer’s intimate, almost claustrophobic, gaze, each character interacts with their partner, depicted as the wheelchair, in various tantric poses. Each character reveals their crippling psycosexual traits, in part or in whole.

ULAN BATOR “EN FRANCE EN TRANCE” CD
Ulan Bator, the French avant rock group under Amaury Cambuzat, are celebrating twenty years with a new album on the heels of their first ever US tour. This year Ulan Bator has a fresh new line up and instrumentation, most notably the strange and haunting sounds of the vintage Ondes Martenot. “En France En Trance” was recorded in Paris as an intense, concentrated improvisation between these new collaborators and evolved into a nine track album rather quickly. Collectively drawing from a large pool of well cultivated musical references, Ulan Bator manages to bring the distinct guitar and vocals of Cambuzat, the otherworldly sounds of Nathalie Forget, the bass of Diego Vinciarelli and the percussion of Luca Andriola together to create a passionate, urgent and sometimes dangerous album.
If Ulan Bator seemed to have dropped off the US radar since the highly acclaimed Young God release of “Ego Echo” in 2000, rest assured that they have been working and collaborating along side Faust and other luminaries of the European scene. So, true to the clean crisp production style of long time fan and producer Micheal Gira as well as the minimal, tense and ultra European song structures they have become known for, Ulan Bator has reemerged to make their best album yet. The album provides the variety of grooves, drones, noise, textures and sonic meanderings that still stretch and pull the boundaries of song structure. The sometimes guttural utterances and screams of Nathalie Forget create a tension and edge to the new work as never before; although the lilting repetitive vocals on the title track bring you from the dark depths of human psyche to an exalting orgiastic conclusion. As always, it is hard to place the distinct sound of Ulan Bator in any one genre. This album is a mature, dynamic, driving, droning, experimental rock record which solidifies their place in the canons of European art rock like none other.
